Scrolling screenshot on Mac

The built-in Mac shortcuts capture what is on the screen. Shift-Command-3 takes the screen, and Shift-Command-4 and Shift-Command-5 take a part of it or a window.

For a web page you do not need an extra app. Paste the address here and the page comes back as one long image. It works in Safari and in any other browser on macOS.

Example output: a landing page at iPhone 15 size, 390 by 5806 pixels. Scroll inside the frame, or see the full-size PNG. Design: Landed by HTML5 UP, CC BY 3.0.

Scrolling screenshot on Windows 10 and 11

Snipping Tool captures a rectangle, a freeform shape, a window or the screen in front of you. It does not scroll a web page for you.

Fullshot gets the same result from the page address. It is a website screenshot taken on a server, so nothing is installed on your PC. That helps on work computers that block extensions and apps.

Scrolling screenshot in Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari

The form is a normal web page, so it works the same in Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari. You do not add anything to the browser.

It also works on a Chromebook, where desktop apps are not an option. If you want a long screenshot in Chrome without an extension, this is the short way.

Long screenshot for mobile layouts

Many phones have a scroll capture feature. For a web page you do not need it, and you do not need the phone either.

You can capture a scrolling screenshot of the mobile layout from any device. Choose Mobile and pick iPhone 15, Pixel 8 or Galaxy S24.

The result is one long image at phone width, in portrait or landscape.

FAQ

How do I take a scrolling screenshot on a Mac without an app?

Open this page in Safari or any other browser and paste the address of the page you want. Fullshot scrolls it on a server and returns one long PNG. The link to the image works for 7 days, and nothing is installed on your Mac.

Can Windows Snipping Tool take a scrolling screenshot of a website?

Not on its own. Snipping Tool captures a rectangle, a window or the screen in front of you. For a web page, paste the address into the form above and get one long image.

Does the long screenshot include lazy-loaded images?

Yes. Fullshot scrolls through the page before it captures, so images that load on scroll have time to appear. Most pages finish in 5 to 30 seconds.

Is there a maximum page height?

There is no fixed height limit. The limit is the file size, and a capture larger than 10 MB cannot be saved. If a very long page fails, choose a narrower screen size.

Can I take a scrolling screenshot of a page that needs login?

No. Fullshot opens the page in a clean browser and cannot log in for you. Sites with bot protection may also block the capture.

What is the difference between a scrolling screenshot and a full page screenshot?

They are the same thing under two names. Phones and screenshot apps usually call it scrolling. See our full page screenshot page for more on what the image includes.
